Once you figure out what respect tastes like, it tastes better than attention.
P!nk
The age of social media has given us a false sense of intimacy. With the ability to like, share, and comment on anything we see, we are constantly in contact with each other and it can be tempting to reward ourselves with likes and comments rather than taking time out to respect others. But what is respect?
Respect is having empathy for another person’s point of view, even if it differs from ours. Respect is recognizing that everyone has their own boundaries and needs. Respect is doing things for others without expecting anything in return.
Respect is not something that can be demanded from other people or taken from them through manipulation or force. It is earned through kindness and hard work, and once you figure out what it tastes like, it’s the best taste in the world.
