Beat the Monday blues with an uplifting, motivating song to get you going through the rest of the day and maybe even the rest of the week. Today’s music is “Fantastique” by Parallels.
Parallels is the synth-pop project of Canadian songwriter and producer Holly Dodson. Originally from Toronto in Canada and currently based in LA, Parallels has been making “sonic spells and colours fading in on Polaroid film” since 2008. NME described Dodson’s voice as “A young Madonna meet’s modern electro” which can be heard in the soundtrack of 2013 Oscar winning short-film “Curfew”.
In 2020, Parallels and regular collaborator Radio Wolf came together to release a 7-song soundtrack for “Proximity,” an independent sci-fi feature film directed by Eric Demeusy. The soundtrack was released by LA indie label Lakeshore Records.
In the same year, Parallels celebrated the 10-year anniversary of their debut album “Visionaries” with a special remaster/remix edition. Released by prolific synthwave label NewRetroWave, The album was a hit in the iTunes US Electronic chart and the limited-edition vinyl sold out within weeks.
