LAU is the stage name of Laura Fares (a.k.a. Lau Fares), an Argentinian singer-songwriter from Buenos Aires. She is currently based in Barcelona after living in the UK for over 20 years. She began playing music at 17 by teaching herself the drums and guitar and spent several years as a session musician and songwriter before co-founding Aztec Records in 2010. Aztec has gathered quite a collection of synthpop and retrowave artists to their roster and some of these artists have shared songwriting duties with LAU for their releases. She began releasing her own music in 2020, the latest of which is Instant Sunshine, which was released on the 14th January 2022.
