Beat the Monday blues with a motivating song to get you through the rest of the day, maybe even the rest of the week. Today’s music is “Maceration” by Occams Laser.
Occams Laser is the music project of Tom Stuart, a British synthwave producer who creates captivating retro-futuristic sounds from an unlikely location – a shed on the Isle of Wight. The project was launched in 2014, although Stuart’s musical background extends further, having taken piano lessons as a child and beginning music production in 2007. Stuart characterises his music as “Dark, electronic & often mildly sarcastic”. His primary influences include Trent Reznor, as well as electronic music pioneers Justice and Daft Punk, whom he refers to as “true electronic gods”.
I’ve always admired artists who can take big experimental leaps and explore new things.
Within the synthwave community, Occams Laser has cultivated a devoted following. Listeners appreciate Stuart’s talent for crafting atmospheric and energetic compositions that stimulate the imagination, often evoking imagery of a fictional cyberpunk dystopia. Since its inception, Occams Laser has been notably productive, amassing an extensive discography comprising dozens of releases. Prominent among these are the “New Blood” series, “Odyssey of Noise” series, and “The Grid Lives”.“Maceration” can be found on the album “Headspace”.
