Nilsson’s second album for RCA Victor was titled “Aerial Ballet,” inspired by his grandparents’ highwire circus act. This album mainly features songs written by Nilsson himself, including the popular track “One,” which later became a hit for the American rock band Three Dog Night, reaching Number Five on the charts. According to Aerosmith drummer Joey Kramer, the title of the album served as the inspiration for both the band’s name and their iconic wings motif.

The album Aerial Ballet includes a well-known cover song called “Everybody’s Talkin'” by Fred Neil. This song was released as a single in 1968 in North America and managed to reach the top forty charts in Canada. However, it initially did not perform well in the United States. Interestingly, despite its initial lack of success, the song was later chosen to be featured in the Academy Award-winning movie Midnight Cowboy. This exposure ultimately led to it becoming one of Nilsson’s most successful hits as a singer, reaching the top ten on the US charts in 1969.
