Thursday Throwback is a weekly colour scheme inspired by an iconic album cover of yesteryear. This week’s throwback is the 2008 album “Shine” by Estelle. The colours are as follows:

“Shine” is the second studio album by British singer, rapper and actress Estelle. Released on 23rd September 2008, the initial single from the album, “Wait a Minute (Just a Touch)”, made its debut in November 2007. The subsequent single, “American Boy”, featuring Kanye West, achieved the top spot on the UK Singles Chart and ranked within the top ten in numerous other nations. This song also earned two Grammy Award nominations for Best Rap Sung Collaboration and Song of the Year.
The album boasts collaborations with renowned artists such as will.i.am, Kardinal Offishall, Mark Ronson, John Legend and Cee-Lo Green. A bonus track produced by Hi-Tek titled “Life to Me”, features Estelle as a guest artist.
An enhanced version of “Shine” was released via iTunes with additional bonus tracks and videos. These included “Life to Me” (also featured on the UK CD single for “American Boy”) and another track called “I Wanna Live”. Videos for both “American Boy” and “Wait a Minute (Just a Touch)” were also included. Upon release, Shine secured number 38 position on Billboard’s Top 200 chart selling over 14,800 copies during its first week alone while ranking at number six on Top R&B/Hip Hop Albums chart. It subsequently received a nomination for the Barclaycard Mercury Prize.
