Where you innovate, how you innovate, and what you innovate are design problems.
Tim Brown
Innovation is not easy. Innovation requires creativity, tenacity, and a commitment to make things better for the people you are designing for. It’s not just about coming up with the newest idea while tossing everything else aside. Innovation is about making something old better or improving something new.
Designers play an important role in the innovation process. They’re able to see what customers need before they can articulate it themselves, and then translate that vision into a tangible experience. The design process starts with understanding your customers – what they want, what their needs are, how they work, and where their pain points are. It’s up to designers to create solutions to these problems by using research, data analysis, user testing, prototyping, etc. In the end though, the goal of design is always creating a meaningful experience for others that strengthens their lives in some way.
